Lake Shore Lodge is a owner based lodge situated on the banks of Lake Tanganyika in South Western Tanzania.
The accommodation is stylish and unique with 5 luxury Beach chalets and 1 large Honeymoon Suite. The doors at the from of each room slide away completely to offer spectacular views of the Islands in from of the Lodge and the Distant Congo Hills.
Each room has a separate shower and Toilet, double vanity and dressing areas.
Lawn Bandas are ideal for travellers with a tighter budget. The rooms are set up with 2 x queen size beds to form a Twin Banda ( with beds apart) or a Double Banda ( with beds together ). These rooms are not en suite, they share common bathrooms and showers.
The Funky Mango Bar and Restaurant offers International Cuisine. The menus have been designed by chefs from Uk, Belguim and Denmark who have trained the local Lake Shore Chefs. Menus for vegetarians and children are available.
Activities offeres at Lake Shore Lodge are Massages ( Indian Head Massage, Reflexology, Full Body, Back and Shoulder Massage. Diving at one of the 7 nearby Islands and also offering dive safaris to see the chichids in different areas of Lake Tanganyika. Snorkelling, Family fun on kayaks, Quad biking, visits to the Old Monestery and have sundowner cruises on Lake Tanganyika. You can have trips to Mahale National Park by boat too. Lake Shore Lodge is a 4 and a half hours drive to Katavi National Park.
Lake Tanganyika is the longest lake in Africa ( 1720km long ) and the second deepest in the world ( 1470 m deep)- second to Lake Baikal in Russia. It holds one fifth of the worlds available fresh water. It is the Second largest fresh water lake by volume in the world. 26 rivers flow into Lake Tanganyika and only one flows out ( Lukuga River ).
