Why Travel To Africa?

The UK foreign secretary Boris Johnson recently accidently called Africa, the second largest continent in the world, ‘that country’. He was actually meant to say ‘continent’, but the faux pas was quickly picked up. This reflects the confusion many people in the UK have over Africa.

Africa is absolutely huge, only surpassed by Asia in size; it is composed of 54 separate countries, all of which have something different to offer. At Ubon Safari, we want to give you have the trip of a lifetime to Africa, including the opportunity to head on its most incredible African safaris.

Why travel to Africa?

There are many reasons to travel to the world’s oldest continent. When answering the question, ‘Why travel to Africa’ the answers are as varied its wildlife. So, here are just some of the reasons to head to Africa in 2017…

Africa has the most jaw dropping animals on planet earth.

Perhaps the biggest attraction for those in the west are African safaris. Although the number of animals is depleting, due to poaching and hunting, you still have a chance to see these beautiful animals before they possibly vanish altogether.

Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of conservation, there are still animals like rhinos and elephants in the 21st century. Some animals like black rhinos are already suspected to be extinct. But there’s still the chance to see wildlife that, although rare, has not yet passed off this mortal coil.

From slinky leopards stalking through the grass, to the gentle giants like elephants, you get to experience nature at its best.

You’ll see elephants in the wild…

Elephants are not only the world’s largest land mammal, they’re one of the most intelligent. Although they’re considered at high risk of extinction, mostly because of their tusks, you can still see plenty of gentle giants in Africa.

It also has the most startlingly beautiful landscapes.

From wildlife filled craters to crashing waterfalls, Africa doesn’t need to leave anything to the imagination. It surpasses anything your imagination can conjure up.

Why do an African wildlife safari?

Among the array of animals in Africa, you can see what’s known as ‘the big five’: elephants, lions, buffalo, rhinos and leopards. An African safari is the best chance to see these first hand.

Head on an African Safari and you can also see incredible natural events, like the Serengeti Wildebeest Migration. When the short rain begins in November, herds of wildebeest begin to migrate from Kenya’s Masai Mara into Tanzania’s Serengeti National park. This is always an incredible sight to behold, especially when seen from the air.

Also in the month of November, 25,000 of Botswana’s zebra begin their annual migration through Botswana’s Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pan National Parks. Known as the second largest Zebra Migration in Africa, the mass movement of these animals starts from in the North from the Boteti River.

In Africa, you can witness the kind of things that expand your mind like never before. An African safari can also take many different forms. With Ubon Safari you can do everything from hot air balloon safaris to horseback safaris.
